An update on our 10th celebration…

Hi ZTFam —

We know so many of our fam have been anxiously awaiting an update and truly appreciate your patience. Please know that we see you, we hear you, and we are doing everything possible to make our 10th anniversary happen in the capacity that you expect and deserve.

That being said, we come to you humbly and completely transparent….

It’s with the heaviest hearts that we have to announce the postponement of Ziontific 10.

As the Boy Scouts were restructuring their programming post-covid, we tried to remain patient and were hopeful that one of our requested dates would work out. Unfortunately, taking many factors into consideration, we didn’t feel that the dates that were finally offered to us were acceptable for our family-oriented event.

Throughout this process, we have done much research and made many new contacts in search of our perfect new home. We did have options that would’ve made the 2023 event happen, but didn’t feel at home at any of them, and felt all were a step backwards, which isn’t fair to our ZTFam. We’ve poured our heart and soul into this event for 9 years. Bringing the event back as what you knew and loved for the 10th anniversary is extremely important to us.

Currently, we have a couple of amazing properties on the table for 2024 that do uphold that Ziontific vibe and are confident our family will feel right at home. Over the next several months, we’ll be weighing all of our options and making a final decision. If you know of a place that you feel would work as a venue and fits the Ziontific Vibe, feel free to contact us privately.

What this means for current Ticket Holders:
We totally understand that it’s been awhile and are still offering the option for refunds to current ticket holders. Since our next event will be at a new home, once the new location is announced, we will be offering another round of refunds as well as more information and options for Glamping refunds or rollovers.

If you do not opt for a refund, your tickets will automatically be rolled over to 2024. Any ticket holders wishing to be refunded, please reach out to us at: info@ziontificproductions.com from the email address the tickets were purchased under to request a refund. Refund requests must be received by April 15, 2023.

What this means for 2024 Ticket Prices:
Out of respect for our devoted family members who have been holding on to their tickets, we will not be offering tickets at the same Earlybird or Presale prices for 2024.

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to email or message us. We want this event to happen just as much as you do – but refuse to compromise the quality of event our ZTFam deserves.

So much love,
Justin & Shannon

*Refund requests must be received by April 15, 2023 at 11:59PM ET.
GA, VIP and Glamping Tickets may also be sold or gifted to a private party and transferred anytime prior to our 2024 event.

Ziontific 5 Artist — Rootz Underground

Rootz Underground represents Jamaica’s most recent contribution to the International Reggae & World Music scene. While undeniably rooted in reggae the six-member outfit uses their collective passion to create a sound that pushes boundaries and defies being boxed into a single genre. Electric yet organic, gritty and soulful; the band manages to harness the essence that the reggae aficionado was captivated by in the 1970’s while connecting the youth to the pure messages of Rastafari with explosive live performances that are a positive and emotional musical journey.

With over a decade of sharing the stage together they have built a strong International fan base that spans across and beyond the 22 countries they have visited in not just reggae but also rock and jamband circles. While also managing to maintain their popularity in the underground music scene with regular appearances as they mould their touring shows against Kingston’s discerning audiences.

With the continued rise of reggae music across the world being played and embraced by all cultures Rootz Underground ensures an undiluted dose of what is happening at the root, transporting audiences to Jamaica from a half-a-world away. With a firm grasp on the foundation as well as influenced by the resurgence of the band format out of Jamaica, Rootz continues to grow consistently building on every show.

Moving forward you can expect only positive energy from Rootz Underground. Lyrically conscious and aware of the blessing of the musical life, the band strives to create songs that uplift energized by grooves that engage and melodies that connect. They are always in the lead when it comes to bringing their fans along for the ride and sharing the experience.

Ziontific 5 Artist — The Movement

Rock, Reggae and Hip‐Hop: Each is definable, recognizable and at once familiar to people the world over. But never have those three forms of musical expression been so effortlessly blended into one sound that is as indefinable as it is recognizable and familiar. Enter The Movement.

Hailing from Columbia, South Carolina, the reggae-rock group The Movement was formed in 2004 by a trio of Sublime and Pixies fans. Joshua Swain, Jordan Miller, and John Ruff, aka DJ Riggles, launched The Movement with their “alternative reggae” debut album, “On Your Feet.” In 2008, the group met Chris DiBeneditto, a Philadelphia-based producer who had worked with like-minded acts such as Slightly Stoopid and G. Love & Special Sauce. Relocating to Philadelphia, they recorded 2008’s “Set Sail” at DiBeneditto’s Philadelphonic Studios. The album has sold over 10,000 copies to date. The Movement expanded with the addition of Gary Jackson on drums and Jason “Smiles” Schmidt on bass. In 2012, Miller left the group, and the trio, now fronted by Swain, released their fourth album “Side By Side,” debuting at #2 on the Billboard Reggae Chart. In 2014 The Movement released “Beneath The Palms,” a surprise acoustic album as a free gift to their fans, and announced plans to record a new full length album in 2015.

Ziontific Summer Solstice Music Festival Lineup - The Expanders

Ziontific 7 Artist – The Expanders

For more than a decade, U.S. reggae artists have been building a foundation from the Hawaiian islands to the east coast. This new generation of reggae artists continues to reach new heights of success with album and ticket sales, as well as winning over fans worldwide. While most modern American reggae bands are rooted in the rock reggae style, there are a few U.S. artists championing the lineage of classic roots reggae traditions, and Los Angeles-based vintage reggae revivalists The Expanders are leading that charge, building their sound around classic 70’s and early 80’s style reggae, with three part vocal harmonies, conscious songwriting, and an indie-DIY spirit.

The five-piece band comprised of John Asher (Drums, Vocals), John Butcher (Guitar, Vocals), Roy Fishell (Organs), Chiquis Lozoya (Bass, Vocals), and Devin Morrison (Guitar, Vocals) have been making reggae fans and critics take note with their refreshing sound that references the “golden era” of reggae. Morrison and Butcher grew up listening to the record collection of famed reggae archivist Roger Steffens, and credit much of their love and knowledge to the accessibility and education of those experiences. Becoming friends with Steffens’ son, they developed an obsession with exploring the deepest reaches of the genre. The Expanders’ new album Hustling Culture was released June 16, 2015, on indie tastemaker label Easy Star Records. Hustling Culture is the band’s third studio album, but for the band members feels like their first proper album as a cohesive unit. Asher explains, “Our first album was a collection of music from good friends making a record together. Our second album was a great covers album, but Hustling Culture is the band coming into its own with our songwriting and musicianship.” Morrison adds, “For this album we spent more time prepping and rehearsing, giving us more confidence in the recording studio. The result made the process more fun and enjoyable as we approached the songwriting in a more organized way and explored a wider range of topics than on the first album. Our combined efforts really shine through and all the musicians really stepped up and gave an inspired effort on the whole record.” In addition to the core members, their extended family includes keyboardist Roger Rivas of The Aggrolites and Rivas Recordings. Rivas has been an integral part of The Expanders’ recordings and helped maintain and produce the authentic sounds, which shine through on all the band’s releases.

Hustling Culture was recorded entirely on analogue tape at Killion Sound in North Hollywood, CA, from 20122014. The studio is a favorite recording place for the band because it’s run by Sergio Rios (Orgone), a friend who understands their unique aesthetic and has the gear to capture it, giving the album a warm and colorful palette.

The album title, Hustling Culture comes from the album’s opening line: “One dollar gone but the next soon come, we never stop from hustling culture.” Morrison explains, “Everyone has a hustle, and ours is roots & culture music. It’s a way of reminding ourselves that outside of just entertaining and financial gain, there is a bigger picture and larger purpose for writing about the topics and playing the style of roots reggae that we do.” The Expanders’ music is a reminder that reggae music wasn’t born in a tropical beach paradise, but in the impoverished and underprivileged areas of Jamaica, resulting in a passionate expression for human rights, social justice and freedom from oppression.

There is a subtle, yet powerful conscious thread woven throughout Hustling Culture. “ Uptown Set,” for example, is about the hidden effects of our country’s party lifestyle, which brings suffering and misery to innocent poor people caught along the routes where party drugs come across the border. “Thanks For Life” is a dedication to women, the struggle they face every day, and the debt of life that we all owe to them. “Top Shelf” is a tribute to the ganja farmers and the reflection of the changing cultural views on marijuana.

The band is part of a burgeoning Los Angeles reggae scene that sprang in large part from The Blue Beat Lounge (the longest running weekly ska night that happened at the Knitting Factory) and LA’s longtime premier weekly reggae night Dub Club held at the Echoplex. A song that was inspired by a key member of that scene is “Reggae Pops,” an infectious instrumental tune laid over a “steppers riddim” featuring John Butcher on lead guitar and Dan Hastie from Orgone on clarinet. The title was chosen as a tribute to the late-great Reggae Pops (born Nemencio Jose Andujar) who was a pillar of the Southern California reggae community for decades. Morrison states, “It’s impossible to accurately describe what he meant to reggae music in Los Angeles, but those who remember him from shows will never forget him. He was a dancer, a fan, and a presence that was always felt. He was the man!”

The Expanders are on tour now supporting the release. Morrison concludes, “Our goal is to bring that vintage reggae feel and sound that we love to places where people might not get to hear it on a regular basis.”
